"The hardest part of being an elite athlete for me is trying to make my sport fit with my life as a mother, wife and business person. Elite sports require many hours of practice and time away from home. My husband also works away from home but we try as much as possible to juggle work and sport commitments so one of us is home with our three children. The financial support from the Canadian Athletes Now Fund helps us balance the juggling act and have the time to be with our children. Without my family's support I could not continue to compete. Thanks CAN Fund for making it possible for this mother to stay in sport. I truly appreciate your assistance."
- Ina Forrest, 2010 Paralympic Gold Medalist, Wheelchair Curling

"My dream as a little girl was to be an athlete and compete at the Olympics. I feel fortunate to have lived out my dream. In the pursuit of excellence as an amateur athlete there are financial and emotional pressures. Additional pressures become a reality when you have children. The support of CAN Fund allowed me to continue my athletic endeavours in addition to being a mom. This unique opportunity provided me with two very rewarding and fulfilling aspects of life. Having the best of both worlds -athlete and mom- I set personal bests in all aspects of my sport. Thanks CAN Fund!"
- Buffy Williams, 3 time Olympian, 2000 Olympic Bronze Medalist, Rowing

Canadian Athletes Now Fund allows me to focus attention on my son instead of the financial needs of my sport. Canadians need to know that Olympic athletes cannot make it to the top on their own. The CAN Fund has been essential to helping me to the top of the world stage and making my dreams come true!?
- Michelle Stilwell, 2008 2 time Paralympic Gold, Medalist, Wheelchair Athletics
