CALGARY (June 9, 2011) – Canadians have given tremendous supports
to their Olympians over the decades and this Saturday, June 11th, Calgary
based Olympian Swimmer Erica Morningstar and 2012 Olympic hopeful Katy
Murdoch will be giving back to their community in supporting Calgarians to
get fit during Fitnesspalooza.
Fitnesspalooza is an event organized by the Talisman Centre in Calgary and
the CANfund foundation. It will showcase some of Calgary's top fitness
instructors and elite athletes. Calgarians will be able to try out a very
wide range of fitness classes with some of Canada’s top Olympians.
“I’m really looking forward to this event,” said Katy Murdoch, short course
relay record holder. “The participants will be able to see what it is like
to workout with world-class athletes while also supporting a great movement
thru the CANfund.”
“My hope is that this event will encourage our community to stay fit while
helping Canadian athletes get one step closer to their ultimate athletic
goal,” added Murdoch.
“Calgary is an amazing city with potential to raise money for this great
foundation (CANfund) so getting involved with this event is something I am
extremely excited about,” said Erica Morningstar, 2008 Olympian and member
of the 2011 World Championships team that will be competing in Shanghai this
July.
“It’s a great way to meet people, give back to the community, as well as
show people who you are and let them know a little bit about yourself and
your sport.”
“I truly believe that nothing unites a country (or city) in a more positive
manner then sport does,” added Morningstar. “This event will showcase many
of Calgary's Olympic athletes just one year out of the next Olympic Games.”

Currently there are only about 100 people signed up for the event and
classes could potentially have 1000.
