June 18, 2008 Swimming CanadaTORONTO - Three time Paralympian and World Record holder Benoit Huot of Montréal threw the first pitch at the Toronto Blue Jays Game on Friday, June 6th. Benoit was there as a Paralympic Ambassador to help promote the Paralympic Games in Beijing this September. Throwing the first pitch was quite an honour for Huot, who used to come and watch the Jays play at the Rogers Center when he was younger. Benoit is from Longueuil QC, and currently resides and trains in Montréal for Club Natation Piscine du Parc Olympique under Coach Benoit Lebrun. The 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games will be Huot’s 3rd time representing Canada on the Swimmer’s with a Disability team. At the 2004 games in Athens, Benoit broke 3 world records and brought home 5 gold medals. Benoit is preparing to compete at the Can-Am Open Swimming Championships for Swimmer’s with a Disability in Victoria, BC July 11-13, 2008 before heading to Beijing. |
