I heard this week how British athletes at the 1948 London Olympics were required to sew their own uniforms, and that London was still so devastated from World War II that athletes from other countries brought food. In 2012, London will again be hosting the Olympic Games, and while today's conditions are a far cry from what they were like 62 years ago, it is still tough being an amateur athlete.

That's why this week's announcement that 190 athletes would receive 6000 dollars to assist in their training and living costs was a welcome financial boost.

One of those athletes is Paralympic Gold Medallist and Manitoba Native Michelle Stillwell. Michelle joined us on Friday to give us an update on her summer training, and what the award was all about Michelle we wish you success with your training here at home and while flying the Canadian flag around the world. Keep healthy.
